As of June 28th the OptomCAS 2018 is officially open!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The time has arrived.\u00a0<\/strong>So you\u2019ve been working to keep up that GPA, right? Got\u00a0gleaming OAT scores? How about all that extra stuff like volunteer work, research projects, and extracurriculars? Well now it\u2019s time to lay it all on the line!<\/p>\n

The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO<\/a>) uses the Optometry Centralized Application Service (OptomCAS<\/a>) as the general web-based application to submit applications to the all optometry schools in the U.S. and the application for the 2018 cycle has just opened!<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Getting Started…<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Firstly you’ll create an OptomCAS 2018 application account here<\/a>. This is where you will\u00a0login, save, edit, and eventually submit your application(s).\u00a0Check out the full OptomCAS 2018 instructions here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The application is\u00a0dense<\/em>\u00a0and filling it out all the required information is a task not to be taken lightly. Take your time to insure all the detailed information\u00a0is correct.<\/p>\n

$ Cost $<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

The total application cost truly lies in the number of optometry programs you apply to.<\/p>\n

Upon completely the OptomCAS the fee is\u00a0$170<\/strong>\u00a0and it includes\u00a0submission to one dental school then it\u2019s an\u00a0additional $70 for each\u00a0additional\u00a0school<\/strong>. The application process as a whole can quickly become expensive with the cost of taking the OAT, completely the OptomCAS, then individual schools\u00a0secondary<\/em>\u00a0application fees, traveling to interviews, etc. so you really want to do your research and narrow down the programs you really want to apply to!<\/p>\n

Deadlines<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

Now just because\u00a0the application is open until March 1st<\/strong> doesn\u2019t mean OptomCAS 2018 goes on the back burner. It is highly suggested by literally everyone (schools, advisors, OAT Cracker, and me) that you get your completed application in during the\u00a0summer time<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Keep in mind\u00a0you\u2019ll need to meet specific optometry program deadlines<\/em> that you are applying to. This means you must not only complete and submit the OptomCAS 2018 by those deadlines but also be sure to get in transcripts, letters of recommendation, and any secondary application fees specific schools may require as well.\u00a0Some optometry schools offer admittance on a rolling basis so basically\u00a0apply asap!<\/strong><\/p>\n
